Train Lighting

I forgot to save all of the lighting tests I did in maya, so I only have the finished lighting to show for the train scene.

Lighting Tests

Since my render time was a little excessive I had to make a few changes to it. I think it looks a lot better now, and the mirror is the way it should be now as well.

Moving back to scene 3 again, adding an ambient occlusion and rendering out the toon lines on a separate layer I finally managed to get the lighting for this Scene done. It's quite subtle but it's really just to give a bit more light and depth to the image.

And then lighting the first part of the Vinyl scene. Most of the lighting was already done for this just had to make sure that the scene wasn't to dark and that there were some nice shadows from the candles above it.

Lighting Tutorial

Alan has asked me to post up the tutorial I used for the lighting of my scene 4. There are 6 different tutorials on lighting their quite good, learnt a lot of interesting things about lighting from them.

Lighting tests

After looking at the lighting for scene 4 again I decided to change a few things like the texture in the mirror and the amount of candles there were on the wall they are minor changes but I feel they make a difference.

The mirror still wasn't quite right so I went back and fiddled around with it a little more.

Lighting Tests

I've finished the lighting on Scene 4, there might be a few more changes made but for now this is the final lighting for scene 4. We decided to not do the toon shader on this scene anymore as we would not be able to use mental ray and there are a lot more options to lighting in metal ray than in maya software. Here are the lighting tests and then the final render for it. I'll be moving onto trying to light scene 3. I have had a few problems with it as its quite hard to light image planes but I will be giving it another go if it doesn't work out then I'll be doing the lighting in after effects.
